Giving back

Nov 4, 2020Articles
Tis the season for giving

At this time of year, we look for ways to help those less fortunate than ourselves. The holidays are all about giving and if you want to get into the spirit of the season, please consider including Literacy Pittsburgh in your holiday traditions!

A charitable donation isn’t the kind of holiday gift that will end up on a shelf or in a closet in a few months — it will have long-lasting effects in creating better lives for those in our community. Literacy Pittsburgh has many ways you can support our students at this time of year, including Amazon Wish Lists, Target Circle, Give Big Pittsburgh, and more!

Shop on Amazon

There are two ways you can support Literacy Pittsburgh during your holiday shopping. Select Literacy Pittsburgh as your charity of choice through Amazon Smile and we will receive 0.5% of each purchase. While you are shopping, check out our wish lists packed with items that will benefit Family Literacy students and Literacy Pittsburgh’s day-to-day efforts. Items are shipped directly to Literacy Pittsburgh, making it quick and easy to fulfill a wish!

Vote on Target Circle

Literacy Pittsburgh has been chosen as a designated charity for the Target Circle program. If you are a Target shopper, you can cast your votes for our programs. Each qualifying transaction earns one vote, so you may have votes in your Target Circle app already. Earlier this year, we raised more than $5,000 from this program because of people like you.

Make a Donation

Now, more than ever, Literacy Pittsburgh needs financial support to provide the free services that so many in our community rely on. Click here to make a donation through our secure online form.

Participate in Give Big Pittsburgh

Each year, Give Big Pittsburgh raises money for local nonprofits through a single online donation platform, providing a simple way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most. This 24-hour online fundraising effort, hosted by Pittsburgh Magazine and local sponsors, offers nonprofits the chance to raise funds to support their critical missions. Give on December 1 at the Give Big Pittsburgh website.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are the core of our programs. They bring optimism and enthusiasm, create positive energy, and provide the opportunity for our students to make profound changes in their lives. Click here to learn how you can help.

We are grateful to you, our donors, volunteers, advocates, partners, and friends.  Thank you for creating Better Lives Through Learning.  May you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday season!
