One Big Table: An International Tasting

A Global Feast of Food, Entertainment, and Art celebrating the diversity of our region.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Literacy Pittsburgh. More than 450 individuals gathered at Nova Place, helping us raise more than $130,000 so our students can improve their reading, writing, math, English language, digital literacy, and workplace skills. One Big Table: An International Tasting celebrates the diversity of our region through food, art, and entertainment.

Twenty-four restaurants joined us, showcasing Middle Eastern, Mexican, Turkish, Ethiopian, Thai, and Indian cuisines and more! Once again, our Literacy Pittsburgh staff provided an awesome "City of Bridges" cookie and donut table. Scroll down to view the restaurant list and visit them on your next night out.

Steel City Calypso, The Rouges, and Bollywood by S kept everyone entertained throughout the night. Guests shopped at our artisan market featuring handmade items from global artisans. We appreciate the generous support of all of our sponsors, and all of our guests and volunteers who contributed to the fun event.

WHO BENEFITS

Education opens doors. Unfortunately, too many people in our region missed out on the opportunity to complete their education due to family, personal, or learning challenges. We also have many families immigrating to the Pittsburgh area who may know a little English, but not enough to converse with native speakers or get a decent-paying job.

Proceeds from One Big Table provide our students with caring, experienced professional teachers and trained volunteer tutors. It provides books and materials, technology, and innovative programs that move students from learning to earning. It supports infrastructure that gives our students a safe and comfortable learning environment and a staff committed to both efficiency and effectiveness.
