Thank You, Volunteers!

Oct 9, 2024Volunteer Spotlights

We recently held two events recognizing the amazing volunteers in our adult literacy program and in our Oasis Tutoring program.

On September 18, we thanked our Oasis Tutoring volunteers for their dedication to children in five area school districts. Oasis tutors meet with children in grades K-4 once each week to help improve reading skills and self-esteem.

On September 19, more than 75 tutors and students joined us for a potluck at Dormont Park. Last year, 549 volunteers in our adult literacy program gave 21,365 hours to help their students achieve their goals. Fun fact: 50% of tutored students advanced at least one test level – a higher percentage than the class-based program.

At each event, we recognized volunteers for exceptional service to their respective programs. We thank all of our volunteers for sharing their time and kindness with their students!
