CEO Carey Harris taught a 12-week Business English class for advanced English language learners this spring. The amazing group of students hailed from all over the world and brought impressive professional experience and credentials along with a healthy appetite for improving their English. The course covered vocabulary, idioms, and pronunciation specific to business settings in the United States. Topics also included professional bios, LinkedIn, the elevator pitch, the Pennsylvania legislature, and American Football (always important for small talk in Pittsburgh!) Students also had the chance to have professional headshots taken for their LinkedIn profiles. The last class focused on business conversation practice with guests from various industries relevant to the students, such as banking, healthcare, media, human resources, education, and more. Students formed great bonds and have already organized themselves to stay in touch and continue practicing English together!
