Beaver County partners support student goals

Apr 5, 2024Articles

Many of Literacy Pittsburgh's students face barriers to achieving their learning goals. We rely on the support of many partners to help our students address the challenges that are holding them back from success. In Beaver County, one such partner is Gateway Rehab, which operates a halfway house. Moffet House provides a supportive home environment where residents can practice daily recovery skills, have jobs, participate in community activities, and attend school.

During the past year, five individuals from Moffet House attended our GED preparation classes. Four of the students have passed all four of the GED tests, earning them a high school credential. These graduates were referred to Job Training for Beaver County, which provides career services for Beaver County’s youth, adults, and dislocated workers, and helps businesses attract, train, and retain a skilled workforce. This partnership can open up opportunities for students to further their education and training. Thus far, one student has found a job with a manufacturing company.

We are grateful to these and all of our partners for helping our students pursue their dreams!
